Ignore Dream Stealers
Before I get started, I would like to define what/who a dream stealer is. It is anyone who tries to stop you from doing what your heart truly desires. So if you have a desire to be successful, for example, you may get some flak from your friends and family. You may hear things like, “That will never work.” “You won’t make any money doing that.” Or, “That’s a sure way to failure.”
Let’s get real here for a second. NO ONE can predict what your future will be except for YOU. So how does one ignore all the negative and channel in the positive? Maybe it’s time for some new friends. If you have a friend that does not support what you believe in or want to pursue, ARE THEY TRULY YOUR FRIEND? I’ll let you decide that one.
And the same goes for family. Although you cannot easily just write off family, you deserve their respect and support. And…if they cannot give it to you, they need to be told otherwise. In many cases, distance may be needed to back them off. Once you start getting results, they always seem to start asking you questions. You see…people always want what you have but don’t want to do what you had to do to get it. That is the truth.
You will never ever please everyone in this world. Even when you are successful, there will be someone that’s going to hate on you. That’s human nature. People don’t want you to do what they think won’t work for them. Let me repeat that. People don’t want to do what they think won’t work for them. But they do want money don’t they? So go about your business and make your money and see what happens when you do.
But you see, there is a transition involved here. You must be like a Rhino and get through all of it first to achieve success. And if you let negative remarks get to you and invade your positive way out of your situation, you will NEVER get there.
What are some ways just to combat this
First, surround yourself with go-getters and people doing what you are doing. Go to events; go to meetings; go to luncheons; and go to meetup groups. This will help keep the entrepreneurial juices flowing for sure.
Second, buy a good book from a leader in the industry and read it. In fact, reading is a must in the game of sales, marketing and business. You must always be in the game to win it.
Third, hire a mentor. You’ll be surprised what a mentor or coach can do to your confidence and determination. Someone that has been there and can give you some support and coaching.
Whatever you do, just know there is never a good enough reason to quit unless you have completely given up on your dreams. Some people do that; just don’t let that happen to you.
